Our Seeds
For our energy seed range we take sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and flaxseed and lightly toast them together with a dash of flavouring. As a farm based business, we use our own produce where possible.
We get flax seed from our farm near Howden in East Yorkshire, and the sunflower and pumpkin seeds from farms in Austria, China, and the USA. All the seeds are fully traceable, and we take care to choose the best quality available. The flavourings we use are also completely natural-including soy sauce, and balsamic vinegar - and are blended with the seeds in our small factory kitchen here in East Yorkshire. The seeds are then toasted (as each type differs in their 'toastability', we toast each separately) and mixed, then packed & sent out to our shops.
The seeds are low in carbohydrates, and high in protein, calcium, iron, zinc, and vitamin E, and also contain a large proportion of the omega 3 and 6 essential fatty acids. So as well as being high in taste and energy, they are also healthy!
Sunflower seeds are a smooth tasting source of vitamin E, magnesium, selenium, and unsaturated fats.
Pumpkin seeds are rich & chocolatey in flavour and full of the omega 3, 6, and 9 series of essential fatty acids. They are a rich source of traditional nutrients - high in magnesium, iron, manganese, copper, protein, monounsaturated fat, and zinc.
The flax we use is golden flax seed, grown in East Yorkshire. It is delicate and slightly nutty in flavour. Flax has a long history of use as a healthy food, rich in omega 3 essential fatty acids, lignan, and fibre, low in saturated fat. Increased use of the right essential fatty acids can promote healthy skin, hair, circulation, and joint function.
Together, the seeds make a delicious snack to eat on their own or to add to soups, sandwiches, casseroles, or anything else that needs an energy boost.
Fruity Seeds.
These are a mix of our seeds, cranberries, and raisins. The fruits are from the USA (cranberries and raisins). Since their introduction they’ve proved to be our most popular product. We do have seasonal flavours – including cranberry and cinnamon. More info to follow soon..
Pumpkin Power.
A recent addition to our line up, pumpkin seeds are toasted and then mixed with linseed, honey, rosemary and chilli to give a crunchy savoury snack. Harness the power of the pumpkin.
